I’m running for ANC 4C03 Commissioner because I want to bring more transgender, queer, refugee, Indigenous, and other underrepresented perspectives to DC government, ensuring all neighbors’ perspectives are considered in decisions that affect the community.
I am an educator, an artist, a parent, and an advocate who believes in the power of community. My work has always centered education, cultural preservation, the arts, LGBTQIA+ and Indigenous community organizing, and creating spaces and opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
I am a mother of two young children and a voucher recipient. I personally understand how government programs and decisions made by leaders can affect families in need.
I look forward to the possibility to serve my neighborhood in this capacity.
A priority for me is ensuring that public spaces are safe and welcoming to all, including children and adults, neighbors and visitors. I especially want to advocate for Raymond Recreation Center to be better managed and taken care of.
Housing is not affordable, and even with a voucher there is limited housing and the system is difficult to navigate. I want to push for more accessible housing in our neighborhood.
There is a small homeless population in our SMD. I think it’s super important to connect housed and unhoused neighbors with services.
Sign up to volunteer and Petrona will be in touch.
